VRA Sweeps Three (3) Prestigious Awards at 8th Ghana Energy Awards

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has proven its dominance in Ghana's energy sector by sweeping three (3) prestigious awards at the 8th Ghana Energy Awards (GEA) held on Friday, October 25, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

Held under the theme "The Role of Local Content in Building Ghana's Energy Sector," the flagship event honored the achievements of individuals, companies, and institutions that drive growth and innovation within Ghana’s energy industry. VRA was recognized with the following awards: Energy Company of the Year - Power, Outstanding Local Content Initiative of the Year, and Local Content Leadership Impact.

The Energy Company of the Year award is in recognition of the Authority's exceptional operations in power generation and stellar reputation in the energy industry, while the Outstanding Local Content Initiative award recognizes VRA’s exemplary commitment to local content and participation in undertaking projects and initiatives within Ghana’s energy sector.

The Authority's Deputy Chief Executive (Engineering & Operations), Ing. Edward Obeng-Kenzo, won the Local Content Leadership Impact award for his exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing local content initiatives within the energy sector. Ing. Obeng-Kenzo beat the CEO of Ghana National Gas Company, Dr. Ben K.D. Asante; CEO of Petroleum Commission, Mr. Egbert Faibile Jnr; the General Manager of Dutch & Co, Mr. Herbert Friese; and other key personalities in the industry to win the coveted award.
